Ballweg appointed to federal advisory committee

Ruth Ballweg, director of MEDEX Northwest, the University of Washington's physician assistant program, has accepted a three-year appointment to a committee formed to advise U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Donna Shalala on policy and program development for training in primary-care medicine and dentistry.

The 10-story Research and Training Building at Harborview Medical Center will be dedicated at 3 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 23, in the building's lobby. The $79 million building is on the corner of Ninth Avenue and Alder Street. A pedestrian tunnel links the building with Harborview Hall, where many medical school faculty members have offices.
