Researchers to assess impact of budget act
The WWAMI
Center for Health Workforce Studies will evaluate how the
Balanced Budget Act of 1997 affects the training of rural family medicine
practitioners. The federal office of Rural Health Policy is funding the
study.

Hudson to hold endowed chair
Paul G. Ramsey, vice president for medical affairs and dean of the School of Medicine, has named Leonard D. Hudson, professor of medicine and head of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care, to be the first holder of the Endowed Chair in Pulmonary Disease Research. The appointment is effective Oct. 1.

Gabbe elected president of AGOS
Steven Gabbe,
professor and chair of obstetrics and
gynecology, was named
president-elect of the American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society
during the organization's annual meeting earlier this month in San Diego,
Calif. Gabbe will take office at the society's 2001 annual meeting.
