National Academy of Sciences symposium open to all

The National Academy of Sciences will hold a free, public symposium Friday, Jan. 21, in conjunction with a regional Pacific Northwest meeting in Seattle.

The symposium, Science in 2000, will take place from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Cedar Room Auditorium at the Aljoya Conference Center (formerly the Battelle Conference Center) northeast of the UW campus.

Alaska opens its first WRITE site

The Kenai/Soldotna area will become the location of Alaska's first WRITE (WWAMI Rural Integrated Training Experience) site this month. UW third-year medical student Eric Van Eaton will train for six months at the new site. (Full Story)

UWPN Clinics earn perfect score

The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) gave the UW Physicians Neighborhood Clinics a score of 100 percent in a recent national accreditation survey. (Full Story)

Virtual Clinic brings distant students together

Medical students training at distant family medicine clerkship sites regularly report to the Red, Blue or Yellow Clinic. These are not actual patient-care settings, but divisions of a Web-based Virtual Clinic. (Full Story)
