Students hear alternative medicine panel

Medical students in the Introduction to Clinical Medicine course had the opportunity to hear about complementary and alternative medicine directly from practitioners in a panel discussion this past week.

Representatives from a variety of fields described their specialties, the kinds of patients they see, their philosophy of treatment, and their education, training and licensing requirements.

After answering questions from the students, the panelists met with small groups to demonstrate some of the techniques used in their fields.

Work groups appointed for curriculum review

Paul Ramsey, vice president for medical affairs and dean of the UW School of Medicine, has appointed work groups comprised of faculty, students and administrators to begin plans for modifying and enhancing the school's curriculum. (Full Story)

Researchers study physician assistant productivity

WWAMI Center for Health Workforce Studies researchers suggest that, based on a recent study, productivity estimates for physician assistants should be increased under proposed federal regulations for designating Health Personnel Shortage Areas (HPSA) and Medically Underserved Populations.
