Cyrus E. "Cy" Rubin, professor emeritus of medicine and pathology, has been listed as one of the most influential gastroenterology professionals of the past century by an independent Web site for professionals in this field.

Rubin was recognized for his preeminence as a gastrointestinal morphologist.

UW researchers have produced a working draft of the rice plant genome, the largest genome and the first plant genome to be mapped in a working draft form. Monsanto Company sponsored the project.
