Olson named acting chair

Maynard V. Olson became acting chair of the Department of Molecular Biotechnology July 1. Olson is a professor of medicine and genetics, and an adjunct professor of computer science and engineering. He also directs the UW Genome Center in the Department of Medicine.

Kiviat named to study section

Nancy Kiviat, professor of pathology and chief of pathology at Harborview Medical Center, has been named a member of the AIDS and Related Research Study Section for the National Institutes of Health Center for Scientific Review. Study sections review and make recommendations on research applications for NIH funding.

UWMC ranked among nation's best

University of Washington Medical Center is again ranked among the country's standout hospitals in U.S. News & World Report's 2000 annual guide to "America's Best Hospitals," available on newsstands July 17. (Full Story)

Study suggests differences in treating heart attack patients
