Carlos Pellegrini, Henry Harkins professor and chair of the Department of Surgery, was recently elected chair of the Residency Review Committee for Surgery. The committee conducts peer reviews, based upon standards and guidelines, of residency programs seeking accreditation.
In addition, Pellegrini has also been elected chair of the board of trustees of the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, an organization of approximately 2,200 surgeons, mostly in the United States. He recently completed a one-year term as president of the society.
