The National Resident Matching Program will be held in the third-floor Health Sciences lobby on Thursday, March 22, at 9 a.m. PST. Match results are released at medical schools nationwide at this uniform time. Match participants, their families, and UW faculty and staff are welcome to attend. The results will also be available on a secured Web site at 10 a.m. that day.

The Medical Alumni Association will host a post-Match celebration dinner on Friday, March 23, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. aboard the ferry Skansonia.

In "Transforming Health Care Through Information Technology," the President's Information Technology Advisory Committee presented recommendations to improve American health-care access and quality and to reduce costs. (Full Story)

The Washington State Chapter of the American Lung Association chose Gregory J. Redding, professor of pediatrics and chief of Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine at Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center, as the 2001 inductee into the Pulmonary Hall of Fame. (Full Story)

A weekly meal of fatty fish was associated with a 44 percent lower risk of fatal ischemic heart disease, but was not associated with a lower risk of non-fatal myocardial infarction, in a group of adults over age 65. (Full Story)
