The UW Mini-Medical School has been providing a brief series of medical education programs to invited guests from the community. During the Wednesday evening series, UW faculty members present the latest in research and health-care issues. The series began Feb. 7 and ends March 21.

Several people affiliated with the WWAMI Alaska program and the UW School of Medicine were among the 6,000 volunteers at the 2001 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Anchorage, March 4 to 11. (Full Story)

The UW Alcohol and Drug Abuse Institute (ADAI), in cooperation with the VA Puget Sound Health Care System Addictions Treatment Center, is participating in an 11-site national study evaluating the effectiveness of treating alcoholism with medications combined with behavioral therapy. (Full Story)
