Lois Thetford, a 1980 graduate of the MEDEX Northwest Physician Assistant Training Program, was selected for a 2001 Jefferson Award from the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. The award, given to five people this year, recognizes individuals for public service to their local communities. In 1970, Thetford helped found the Fremont Women's Clinic. In 1985, she co-founded the 45th Street Community Clinic, where she continues to work as a physician assistant.
