Professors publish euthanasia discussion

Anthony Back, associate professor of medicine, and Robert Pearlman, professor of medicine, both at the VA Puget Sound, published commentary on the implications of euthanasia in the August 4, 2001 issue of The Lancet. The commentary accompanied a qualitative study that included face-to-face interviews with HIV-1 or AIDS patients discussing their experiences deliberating euthanasia.

Clinical trial concludes diet and exercise effective in lowering type 2 diabetes risk

A national clinical trial concluded that a healthy diet and 30 minutes of daily exercise reduced the risk of acquiring type 2 diabetes by 58 percent, according to an announcement last week by Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson. (Full Story)
