Patrice Burgess and Katie M. Scanlan, WWAMI graduates and practicing Idaho physicians, have been appointed to posts in the American Medical Association (AMA).

Burgess, who directs the family medicine clerkship in Boise, is serving on a Special Advisory Group to the Board on restructuring the AMA. She has also been voted chair-elect of the Young Physicians Section of the AMA. The Idaho Medical Association has recently elected her as trustee for District IV. Burgess is on the faculty of the Family Practice Residency of Idaho.

Scanlan, of Meridian, Idaho, was elected by the Idaho Medical Association's House of Delegates to represent the association's young physicians to the AMA's Young Physician Section. She is also a new member of the Idaho Medical Association's Board of Trustees. Scanlan is a graduate of the Family Practice Residency of Idaho, and is affiliated with Ada Family Medicine.
