Jamal Gwathney, a resident in the Providence Family Medicine Residency Program in Seattle, has received the Dr. Roy Virak Memorial Scholarship from the Washington Academy of Family Physicians.
The scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic achievement, excellence in patient care, and strong service to the community.
Gwathney, a 1999 graduate of the UW School of Medicine, volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters of King County and is a member of the Cross-Cultural Competency Steering Committee at Swedish Hospital. He is also an active in the First African Methodist Episcopal Church of Seattle.
