Goldstein selected for University-wide Distinguished Teaching Award

Erika Goldstein, shown left at the UW Recognition Ceremony held June 13 in Meany Hall, accepted the University-wide Distinguished Teaching Award. UW President Richard McCormick presented the award. The award is given annually to a faculty member selected from any school or college to recognize exemplary teaching. In addition, she has also been selected by the 2002 graduating medical school class to receive her third Distinguished Teacher Award.


Diabetes gene in rats also appears in humans

Researchers have discovered a gene that appears to be necessary for diabetes development in the BB rat, an animal model for human type 1 diabetes. (Full Story)

Daniel Porte, UW professor emeritus of medicine, will receive a 2002 Norvatis Award in Diabetes for Long-Standing Achievement. (Full Story)

Kraft recognized for national work in field of physical and rehabilitation medicine

George H. Kraft, professor of rehabilitation medicine and adjunct professor of neurology, will receive the 2002 Frank H. Krusen Award in November from the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. (Full Story)
