Summer international health program applications due

Applications are due Dec. 1 for first-year medical students interested in receiving investigative inquiry credit for participating in a new 2003 summer international health program in Kenya, the Pacific Islands or Peru.

Students select their own project with help from faculty advisors and students involved in the program. The themes are HIV transmission between mothers and infants in Kenya; diabetes epidemiology in the Pacific Islands; and work with HPV and HIV transmission, as well as human t-cell leukemia research, in Peru. Students selected for the program in Peru must have a working knowledge of Spanish.

Students selected for the program will be notified after Dec. 15. Concurrent application for Medical Student Research Training Program (MSRTP) funding is encouraged.

For more information, contact third-year medical student and program coordinator, Carolyn Hettrich.
