UW physical therapy students practice low-back traction techniques

UW Physical Therapists offer screenings and information

UW physical therapists will celebrate Physical Therapy Month in October with several free screening and information events on the UW campus in Seattle. Participants can learn about the field of physical therapy and the physical therapy professional curriculum offered in the UW Department of Rehabilitation Medicine.

Conducting the screenings will be physical therapists from Hall Health Center, the Exercise Training Center at UWMC-Roosevelt, the UW Sports Medicine Physical Therapy Clinic, the UW Medical Center Physical Therapy Department, as well as faculty members from the physical therapy professional curriculum program.

Depending on the location, participants may be able to obtain a postural assessment, flexibility screening, stretching instruction, body composition testing, brief consultation about an injury, submaximal heart rate test, ergonomics suggestions, and tips on conditioning and exercise.

The times, dates and locations for the events are:

10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct., 7,Physical Therapy Department, 8E, Pacific Tower, UW Medical Center

10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 14, Hall Health Primary Care, Front Lobby

UW Dawg Dash, Sunday morning, Oct. 19, Dempsey Indoor Practice Facility

10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 21, Pool Balcony, Intramural
Activity Building

10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 28, UW Medical Center-Roosevelt, Main Lobby.
