Women who carry BRCA1 or BRCA2 genetic mutations have a high lifetime risk for breast and ovarian cancer, but exercise and healthy weight can delay onset of the disease, according to a study published in the Oct. 24 issue of Science. (Full Story)

UW to begin offering Doctor of Physical Therapy degree

The UW Board of Regents last month approved the medical school Department of Rehabilitation Medicine’s request to modify and replace the existing Master of Physical Therapy degree program with the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT). (Full Story)

Teaching Alzheimer’s disease patients how to exercise properly and training their caregivers in how to manage patient behavior improves physical health and decreases depression in those patients, according to a study published in Oct. 15 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association.
