Family practice residencies in Wyoming join UW network

The University of Wyoming’s family practice residency programs have joined the UW Affiliated Family Practice Network, giving the network members in all five WWAMI states.

The network was formed in 1972 and has trained almost 2,000 family physicians in 15 programs throughout the region. Its goals are to promote excellence in family practice residency education, provide academic leadership, and to respond to societal needs for family physicians.

The addition of the Wyoming programs, which are in Casper and Cheyenne, gives that state representation in the three main portions of the WWAMI medical education program: first-year schooling, clerkships, and residency training. Karen Wildman is the director of the Casper program, and James Broomfield is the director of the program in Cheyenne.

For more information about the network, contact Network Director Nancy Stevens at 206-685-1856, nancyste@u.washington.edu or visit the network Web site
