Christina Surawicz, professor of gastroenterology and assistant dean for faculty development, will help conduct breakout sessions on professional development at an AAMC conference this weekend.
The Association of American Medical Colleges is holding its 10th Annual Faculty Affairs Professional Development Conference in Tampa, Fla. Surawicz will take part in two presentations: “Models for Sustaining Support for Faculty Development Programs” and “Recruiting and Retaining Women and Minorities: How Do We Keep Them?” Leaders of faculty development from Pennsylvania State University, the University of South Florida, Washington University in St. Louis, and the University of Michigan will also participate in the seminars.
The conference will include sessions on a variety of faculty development issues, including myths and realities of career development, building skills in faculty coaching, and the history of tenure.
