National residency Match Day will be March 18

On Thursday, March 18, most of the 174 graduating medical students at the UW will take part in the nationwide Match Day, when graduates are matched with residency programs.

The UW's Match Day ceremony takes place at 9 a.m. in the lobby of the Health Sciences Building. The ceremony is open to faculty, staff, and students. Refreshments will be served.

The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. with the longstanding tradition of the ringing of a gong. Students will then receive envelopes containing their match results at the same time as the rest of the country's 14,000 graduating medical students.

Students who were not matched with a residency program will meet with faculty members prior to Match Day, be matched with programs that still have openings, and receive their envelope at the ceremony on Thursday.
