Hendrickson giving Distinguished Science in Medicine Lecture May 20

Anita Hendrickson, professor of biological structure and ophthalmology, will discuss the development of the retina in this year's Science In Medicine Distinguished Scientist Lecture. The program will be held at noon, Thursday, May 20, in Hogness Auditorium, room A-420 in the Health Sciences Center.

Hendrickson was the first female professor in the Department of Ophthalmology, the first woman to chair a basic sciences department, and the first female member of numerous UW and national councils and committees. Her early work included a technique for tracing neuron anatomy, and she has researched the development of the retina in primates and humans.

Her presentation, Here's Looking at You: The Development of the Human Retina, is free and open to all. For more information, contact Vee White at 206-543-8391, veewhite@u.washington.edu
