Two UW researchers honored by Burroughs Wellcome Fund
Two researchers in the School of Medicine have won 2004 Career Awards in Biomedical Sciences from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund.
Chyi-Song Hsieh, acting instructor of medicine and senior fellow in the Department of Immunology, and Michele Solis, research associate in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, were among 16 scientists around the country to receive the awards.
The Burroughs Wellcome Fund is a private foundation aimed at advancing medical science through supporting research and education. The Career Awards in Biomedical Sciences foster the development and productivity of promising postdoctoral researchers early in their careers, and help them toward becoming independent investigators. The awards also convey a five-year, $500,000 grant to assist the research of each winner.
