Philip Chen to serve as acting chair of ophthalmology
Philip Chen, associate professor of ophthalmology and chief of ophthalmology at UW Medical Center, has been named acting chair of the Department of Ophthalmology. He will serve as acting chair during the continuing search for the next chair of the department.
Chen joined the UW faculty in 1996. A graduate of Stanford, he received his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center and Doheny Eye Institute in Los Angeles, as well as a fellowship at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami.
Chen studies the diagnosis and treatment of open-angle and angle-closure glaucoma. He is also a physician at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System.
