Three UW School of Medicine researchers gave presentations at the 2005 American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) meeting in Washington, D.C last week: William Calvin, a theoretical neurobiologist and affiliate professor in psychiatry and behavioral sciences; Kristin Swanson, a research assistant professor of pathology; and Jennifer Stone, a research assistant professor in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery. Cell Phones Used to Collect Medical Information in Peru

Walter Curioso, a primary care physician in Peru and a graduate student in biomedical and health informatics at the UW, is using cell phones in Peru to capture, store and transmit medical information from female sex workers in real time. (Full Story)

In January, ten UW medical students began five months of clinical training in small towns as part of the WWAMI Rural Integrated Training Experience (WRITE) program. (Full Story)
