Joseph York and Deborah Harper appointed to School of Medicine leadership
Joseph York has been appointed associate dean for graduate medical education, effective June 15. He is currently the associate dean for educational administration at the University of Illinois in Chicago, and is the former director of graduate medical education there.
York will make his academic home within the Department of Medical Education and Biomedical Informatics. He plans to continue his work evaluating several competencies for residency training, as well as exploring his interest in the relationship between public policy analysis and education.
Deborah Harper has been named assistant dean for the WWAMI clinical phase/Eastern Washington, effective April 1. Harper has been director of the Pediatrics Clerkship in Spokane for the past five years.
She is past president of the Spokane County Medical Society and is the second vice president of the Washington State Medical Association Board of Trustees. Harper, whose UW office will be based in Spokane, will continue her pediatric practice part-time at Group Health Cooperative Spokane. She also will become associate medical director of the Spokane site of the MEDEX Northwest physician assistant program. She replaces Philip Cleveland, who retired in January.
