Charles Mock named director of Harborview Injury Prevention and Research Center
Charles Mock has been named director of the Harborview Injury Prevention and Research Center. Mock, an associate professor of surgery and epidemiology, first joined the center as a trauma fellow in 1992.
Mock's research interests include the Crash Injury Research and Engineering Network; the essential trauma care project, an international effort to promote improvements in trauma outcomes; and injury control and trauma systems in developing countries. He co-edited Guidelines for Essential Trauma Care, published by the World Health Organization in 2004. The guidelines promote organized approaches to injury care in developing nations.
After a yearlong national search, Mock was selected to succeed David Grossman, professor of health services, who left the position this past year to become the medical director for Group Health Permanente's Department of Preventive Care.
