Medical Students

Opportunities for Visiting Students

The Department of Medicine accepts approximately 75 visiting U.S. allopathic and osteopathic medical students each year to participate in a wide variety of clinical electives. Elective opportunities are available in allergy and immunology, dermatology, rheumatology, cardiology, respiratory and critical care medicine, hematology/oncology, oncology, ward medicine subinternship, infectious diseases, endocrinology, medicine consultation, and nephrology.

Successful candidates must complete the University of Washington School of Medicine's application for visiting students and meet all specified requirements. Electives are assigned to visiting students on a space-available basis only. For specific information regarding the medicine electives, please contact Angie Wick in the Department of Medicine Student Programs at angwick@u.washington.edu.

Housing for visiting students is not provided by the University of Washington. However, the School of Medicine maintains a list of people who rent rooms in their homes to visiting medical students. The housing list can be e-mailed upon request to visitstu@uw.edu.
