How do I become a research participant? Our research depends on people like you who are interested in helping us gain more knowledge about memory loss and the relationship to Alzheimer's disease. We are very grateful to the participants in our studies and applaud their willingness to assist in this important work. Before we can enroll someone in our studies, we must determine eligibility. Please read through the following two steps which briefly describe the intial process of becoming a Memory Wellness Program participant: Step One: Telephone Screening Process ~ The phone screen is a series of health questions, covering your medical and medication history. Since there are certain medical conditions and medications that exclude you from our studies, this step in the process ensures we do not bring you into the clinic unnecessarily. Step Two: Screening visit ~ We will review the medical information gathered during the telephone screen. If you are generally eligible to participate in Memory Wellness Program studies, we will call you to schedule a memory screening and blood draw visit which will help us determine which study you might be eligible for.
This appointment generally takes between 1 1/2 and two hours.
Since there are some common conditions that exclude people from participating in our studies, we have developed a short online quiz where you can determine if you should continue with a telephone screen (Step 1 of the screening process). Click here to go to the quiz. Your responses are anonymous and will not be recorded or saved. Please note: We are located in Western Washington and only serve the Puget Sound region.
