Freshman and Transfer Protégé Application
The Application is Now Open!
Transitioning to college life is an exciting time with so many great opportunities at the University of Washington and the Seattle area. It is always nice to have someone to offer advice, provide suggestions, and be a supportive friend. The Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity invites you to apply to be a protégé in our Mentor Power for Success program, a program in which you will be matched with an experienced student mentor who are here to support you through the many new and exciting challenges and opportunities of your first quarter at UW. Student mentors will provide valuable advice about campus life, classes and majors, professors, university and community resources, favorite places to eat on the Ave and fun activities. They can share tips on developing effective study habits, meeting other people on campus, and getting involved in student organizations or volunteer opportunities. As a part of the program we will also be offering numerous events and activities.
We have selected and trained fifty outstanding UW mentors who volunteer their time to help new students feel welcomed and supported during their first quarter and year at the UW. They are committed to helping you. We will do our best to pair you with a student mentor based on similar backgrounds and interests, but may not be able to fulfill all requests due to the overwhelming demand. Our mentors are dedicated to taking the time to building a positive relationship.
Mentor and protégé match letters will be sent via email on September 5th, 2016.
