Catherine Murphy Thomas, MHA, 2007, Receives Award

In October, Catherine Murphy Thomas received the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) 2008 Early Career Healthcare Executive Regent's Award at the Washington State Hospital Association Annual Convention in Seattle. ACHE is an international professional society for healthcare leaders that is known for its prestigious credentialing programs for healthcare professionals.

This award was presented to Ms. Thomas by Marcel Loh, COO of Swedish Medical Center/Providence Campus and former president and CEO of Kadlec Medical Center. The Early Career Healthcare Executive Regent's Award recognizes those who have significantly contributed toward the advancement of healthcare management excellence and the achievement of the goals of ACHE. Members are evaluated on leadership ability, innovative and creative management, executive capability in developing their own organization and promoting its growth and stature in the community, participation in local or state health association activities, and participation in civic/community activities and projects.

Ms. Thomas is Clinic Administrator of Valley Vista Medical Group, Prosser Medical Clinic, which is located in Prosser, Washington, and is part of the Yakima Valley Farmworkers Clinic (YVFWC). Prior to this, she served as the Administrative Services Manager for YVFWC in Yakima.

Ms. Thomas is a Board member of the Washington State Healthcare Executive Forum (WSHEF), demonstrating a commitment to professional excellence. She is also an active member of the Washington State Rural Health Association and the National Peace Corps Association.

Ms. Thomas received a BA degree in biology from Smith College in Massachusetts. She graduated from the UW Master of Health Administration (MHA) Program in 2007.
