UW MHA Program Faculty Member Receives Leadership Award

In February 2007, Eleanor Bell, PhD, Clinical Assistant Professor, was selected as the first annual recipient of the Eileen J. O'Donnell Leadership Achievement Award, a new award at Group Health honoring the memory of one of their gifted leaders.

The Eileen O'Donnell Achievement Award honors a Group Health supervisor, manager, or other leader who has achieved an extraordinary outcome on behalf of patients or staff. Out of 40 people nominated in 2006, Dr. Bell was selected as the 2007 recipient for her work as Director of Performance Reporting and Analysis.

"Eleanor was nominated by her leadership team for the remarkable transformation that has taken place within the Performance Reporting and Analysis Department over the past year," President and CEO Scott Armstrong explains. "This transformation included developing and implementing the Cascade reporting system, realigning department priorities with the business plan and industry reporting standards, and hiring new staff and developing a great team."

Her team wrote the following in their nomination of Dr. Bell: "The best part about working for Eleanor is her vision. Members of the Performance Reporting and Analysis team believe they are part of something big and are working for something that is great, and they're right. Eleanor is always thinking about 'what should be' and how our department will contribute work to get there."

Bell recently accepted the position of Senior Impact Planning & Improvement Officer at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
