EMHA New Student Pre-orientation Checklist
Enrollment and Registration Preparation
After receiving the Program’s offer of admission, you should receive formal notice of admission and an Enrollment Confirmation Acknowledgement.
It contains important information that will help you prepare for the quarterly registration process. This provides your UW Student
Number and Private Access Code (PAC), and confirms your status as a student at the UW.
Registration for courses is a separate process which you will complete at a later date.
If you do not receive this packet after July 1, please contact the Program Office.
Submit your completed form to the Hall Health Primary Care Center as instructed on the form.
Additional Preparation
Once you receive Enrollment Confirmation Acknowlegement containing your Private Access Code (PAC) and Student Number, you can begin setting up your UW ID card and computing accounts.
All Executive MHA (EMHA) students are required to obtain a Student ID (Husky) Card. If you are willing and able to collect your own card, that's great. To learn how to pick up your card and more about the Student ID Card, see the UW Student ID Card page
As an off-campus student, you will not be required to have a photo placed on your card. But, you will need to present photo identification (i.e., driver's license) when picking up your Husky card.
If you will not be able to pick up your own, the EMHA office will collect it from the Student ID Center just prior to the start of autumn quarter and will provide it to you on the first day of class. Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to mail these cards to you, for identify verification reasons.
Create your UWNetID by visiting Computing and Networking’s About UWNetIDs page. Among other things, the UWNetID is the username on your u.washington.edu e-mail address. Even if you have a non-UW e-mail address, you will be required to at least check (either directly or by forwarding) your UW e-mail, as official Program and University business will be sent to your UW e-mail account. See the Using UW Email page for more information.
Review the MHA Programs Computing page. Please be certain that you feel comfortable performing the tasks listed in the Computer Literacy checklists, as these will be vital to your success as a MHA student.
You should also review the information on the available UW computing resources and how to get set up to use them. Many student support functions and many of the on-line resources used in MHA courses, such as journal articles, require that students be able to access the web and login using their UWNetID and password to UW-protected systems.
The EMHA Program coordinates course registration and tuition payment through UW Extension. Specific instructions (and the necessary forms) regarding the registration and tuition payment processes are distributed approximately six weeks prior to each quarter. Registration forms and tuition are due prior to the official start date of each quarter (regardless of the actual on-site session dates).
Autumn 2008: Sep 24
Winter 2009: Jan 5
Spring 2009: Mar 30
Summer 2009: Jun 22
Tuition payment information and an EMHA expenses worksheet are available on the EMHA program finances page.
Additional Student Fees
In addition to quarterly tuition and course materials, students may be asked to assist in supporting select program and student-related activities (e.g. special seminars, social events, etc.). These fees are necessary to cover the cost of discretionary activities not currently supported by the tuition structure. Students will also be responsible for the cost of breaks and lunches during the on-site sessions. This will be referenced during the orientation session on the first day of class (for which lunch will be provided by the Program).
