UW MHA Program

Catherine Murphy Thomas, MHA, 2007
The UW MHA Program offers an excellent framework for studying the field of health care management. The curriculum provides broad exposure to the core facets of the industry, and professors with direct health care experience add valuable and irreplaceable information critical to connecting theory with practical application. The many opportunities provided by the Program to network with industry leaders allow students to make valuable contacts for immediate advice and future job opportunities. Ultimately, the effort each student puts into their work with the Program is exponentially proportional to the rewards and knowledge learned. I value my experience with the UW MHA Program, and know that it has set the cornerstone for a successful career in health care.

MHA Program Overview

Over the past two decades, the health care industry has developed from one dominated by inpatient facilities serving individuals to a complex system of organizations serving defined populations. Because today's health care environment is both dynamic and unpredictable, the industry needs creative leaders with the skills to use health resources fairly and equitably.

The Master of Health Administration Program recognizes the dynamic nature of the health management field as well as the changing nature of societal expectations for health care. The faculty is committed to creating and maintaining an innovative and flexible curriculum to produce managers and leaders who can envision possibilities and execute change within dynamic organizational, financial, and public policy environments.
