MHA New Student Pre-orientation Checklist

Enrollment and Registration Preparation

After receiving the Program’s offer of admission, you should receive formal UW notice of admission from the Graduate School, followed by an Enrollment Confirmation Form from the UW Registrar.

ENROLLMENT CONFIRMATION FORM:
Submit your completed Enrollment Confirmation Form with the $100 fee to the Registration Office as soon as possible.

ENROLLMENT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT PACKET:
Following submission of your enrollment confirmation, a second packet is provided by the Registration Office. It contains important information that will help you prepare for the quarterly registration process, including a University of Washington Registration Notice. This provides your UW Student Number and Private Access Code (PAC), and confirms your status as a student at the UW.

If you do not receive this second packet after submitting the Enrollment Confirmation Form and fee, please contact the Registration Office.

Registration for courses is a separate process which you will complete at a later date.

MEASLES IMMUNITY VERIFICATION FORM:
Submit your completed form to the Hall Health Primary Care Center as instructed on the form.

Additional Preparation

Once you receive Enrollment Acknowlegement Packet containing your Private Access Code (PAC) and Student Number, you can begin setting up your UW ID card and computing accounts.

STUDENT ID CARD:
Obtain your Student ID (Husky) Card. For information about the Student ID Card, see the UW Student ID Card page

UWNetID AND EMAIL ADDRESS:
Create your UWNetID by visiting Computing and Networking’s About UWNetIDs page. Among other things, the UWNetID is the username on your u.washington.edu e-mail address. Even if you have a non-UW e-mail address, you will be required to at least check (either directly or by forwarding) your UW e-mail, as official Program and University business will be sent to your UW e-mail account. See the Using UW Email page for more information.

COMPUTER PROFICIENCY AND COMPUTING ACCESS REQUIREMENTS:
Review the MHA Program Computing page. Please be certain that you feel comfortable performing the tasks listed in the Computer Literacy checklists, as these will be vital to your success as a MHA student.

You should also review the information on the available UW computing resources and how to get set up to use them. Many student support functions and many of the on-line resources used in MHA courses, such as journal articles, require that students be able to access the web and login using their UWNetID and password to UW-protected systems.

REGISTER FOR COURSES:

To register for courses you will use the on-line registration service through MyUW.

To find out what your required MHA schedule will be in the upcoming quarter, visit your program’s course schedule via the link on the Courses Schedules and Listings page.

See the Registration section of the UW Student Guide for additional information and tips on registering, including important deadlines for registration and adding/dropping courses. There are fees for late registration and course adds/drops.

Note about Registration Codes: All course registrations require use of a five-digit Schedule Line Number (SLN), particular to each course. Sometimes you will also need to get an "Add Code" from the program to register for a course.

TUITION:

Do not forget to pay your tuition! Tuition is due the third Friday of every quarter, with substantial (up to $120) fees for late payment. Students in the daytime/traditional MHA program are typically billed shortly after they register for classes each quarter.

For information on tuition deadlines and policies, how to submit payment, and more, see the UW Student Guide’s Finances section. You can find out your tuition account balance on MyUW. See the MHA Estimated Expenses page for additional information regarding MHA expenses.
