Microphiles

The Department has an organization of undergraduates, the Microphiles, which is open to all students. The activities of the group change to reflect the interests of students who participate. All microbiology majors are urged to participate at some level; the time allotted to involvement will enrich your education.

The Microphiles have sponsored field trips to local bio-tech firms; speakers on topics such as the research activities being conducted at the University of Washington and in the Seattle area; discussions on career awareness and opportunities; and explanations of admission and application policies and procedures for graduate and professional schools.

Announcements of Microphile meetings are made in microbiology classes and emailed to students. For further information please contact the faculty sponsor, Mark Chandler, (206) 543-0468, Room T-386 (msc@u.washington.edu), or check out the Microphiles web page.
