The Methylomniferum ubique is the first cultivable representative of a broad group of betta proteobacteria detected in different natural environments

• Facultatively methylotrophic bacteria
• Rod-shaped, aerobic, gram-negative, non-motile
• This bacterium belongs to the betta proteobacteria and is distantly related to representatives of families Rhodocyclales and Burkholderiales 
  (91% 16SrDNA sequence similarity to Herbaspirillum autotrophicum and Thauera aminoaromatica)
