Isolate JLW8
Methylotenera mobila, gen nov., sp. nov
- Obligate methylamine utilizer
- Aerobic, Gram-negative bacterium
- Cells are rod shaped and motile by the means of a
single flagella
- The isolate reproduces by binary fission and does
not form resting bodies
- The cellular fatty acid profile is dominated by C16:0w7c
and C16:0, the major phospholipid - phosphatidylethanolamine.
- DNA G+C content is 54 mol%
- The 16S rRNA sequence analysis indicated that the
new isolate is closely related (97-98% similarity) to a broad group of sequences
from uncultured ß-proteobacteria, but only distantly related (93-95%
similarity) to known methylotrophs of the family Methylophilaceae.
