AIsLE

In 2006 the Marc Lindenberg Center at the University of Washington's Evans School of Public Affairs began working in cooperation with civil society organizations and academic institutions to examine successful approaches and develop best practices to advocacy impact evaluation. To continue moving forward the agenda of developing and implementing the next frontier of GIP advocacy impact evaluation, the Lindenberg Center will build an action learning/research community of practice in Advocacy Impact, Learning, and Evaluation (AIsLE). Together, faculty and staff associated with the Center along with researchers and practitioners from around the world will engage in four sets of activities, which include.

  1. Assemble a comprehensive literature review of current approaches and examples in evaluating GIP impacts from advocacy efforts

  2. Convene a "next best practices" and learning workshop to propose innovative approaches to measure and assess GIP impacts of advocacy efforts

  3. Partner with Gates-funded civil society and cross-sector advocacy grantees to further develop their advocacy impact evaluation approaches, and

  4. Develop an empirical baseline describing the policy and civil society landscape for the Gates grantees through analysis of the one-of-a-kind database on country-level public health landscapes and civil society organizations produced during the initial contract period.
