MLK Day of Service

"Man is man because he is free to operate within the framework of his destiny."
-Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.

Host a Project

Agency registration has been extended until Friday, November 13, 2009.

We invite you to host a project for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service on Monday, January 18, 2010.  Each year, the Carlson Center and the United Way of King County work together to offer over sixty service projects all over King County.

Last year, over 1,300 University of Washington students, faculty, staff, alumni, family and friends served in projects ranging from cleaning, painting, clearing invasive plant growth in Seattle's natural habitats, clearing trash from neighborhood parks, to sorting donated food and clothing.  We hope you can be apart of this opportunity to engage with community members in a meaningful way and honor the legacy Dr. King.

Projects generally take place from 9:30am-3:00pm.  The times are flexible, so please design a project that works best for you and your organization. You can also designate any size volunteer group-from 4 to 150+ volunteers-whichever fits your organization's needs.

If you would like help designing a service project or registering your project, please contact Erica Ellis at the United Way of King County at (206) 461-3644.
