Project Leadership for the MLK Jr. Day of Service
Project Leaders play an essential role in implementing the MLK Jr. Day of Service. They help us to raise awareness about the Day of Service opportunities, take responsibility for a specific service project that they will recruit volunteers to participate in, and serve as a communication liaison between the community organization hosting the service project and the volunteers that sign up to participate.
During the first two weeks of November, 56 University of Washington community members attended a one-hour project leader training and commited to supporting a service project for the 2010 Day of Service... providing opportunities for almost 2,000 people to volunteer!
If you are still interested in leading a project, there are still a few opportunities!
There are still a few service projects in need of leadership. If you are interested in leading a service project, please email mlkjr@uw.edu to let me know and include a few days and times when you would be available for a half-hour training.
As a project leader, you can recruit your own service team or open your project to meet new people. The commitment is minimal and rewarded with leadership experience, stronger relationships, and a demonstrated commitment to our community.
