Give to MSE
Now more than ever, a dynamic education requires the involvement and investment of many. It no longer happens with just tuition dollars. Private support is essential to our success. Endowed scholarships, fellowships, professorships and chairs, along with flexible unrestricted gifts can translate into real opportunities for our Materials Science and Engineering students and faculty. The department has had a colorful history staring out as the school of Mines, transitioning into Ceramics and Metallurgy, and later combining into Materials Science and Engineering. Our continued success depends on your partnership.
These Department Priorities Need Your Support
Undergraduate Lab Upgrade
The task of upgrading and replacing equipment is an ongoing challenge due to limited state funding and the rapid growth in analytical capabilities, materials fabrications and measurements — growth that has outpaced our aging labs. Your support will help ensure MSE has competent facilities for undergraduate instruction. The ability to teach undergraduates in state-of-the-art labs will help maintain a high standard of quality education for our students characterized by small class sizes, personal attention, and experience-driven, hands-on, team-based learning. Learn more »Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Stoebe Endowed Fellowship
Our most important need is for graduate student support. One of the department’s most beloved professors and former chair, Dr. Tom Stoebe, established this fellowship to help Materials Science & Engineering attract the best candidates into our program. Dr. Stoebe recognizes outstanding graduate students are essential to both the vibrancy of the learning experience and to the success of faculty research. With the help of our alumni and friends we hope to reach the goal of funding one full year of support for a deserving graduate student. Your gift will serve a dual purpose: help recruit the brightest students and honor Dr. Stoebe’s legacy to the department. Give now »Materials Science & Engineering Discretionary Fund
This fund is a critical resource for the Chair, allowing the department flexibility to respond to emerging needs and opportunities. Your investment will promote activities related to student support and faculty recruitment, initiatives which extend the breadth of Materials Science & Engineering’s research and education into the broader community such as professional conferences, lectures, and special events.
