{"id":6248,"date":"2016-03-16T14:53:44","date_gmt":"2016-03-16T21:53:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/mswnews\/?p=6248"},"modified":"2026-04-21T19:40:37","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T02:40:37","slug":"health-equity-reflections-contest-250-prizes-due-413","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/mswnews\/2016\/03\/health-equity-reflections-contest-250-prizes-due-413\/","title":{"rendered":"Health Equity Reflections Contest &#8211; $250 prizes \u2013 due 4\/13"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Call for Submissions\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Health Equity Reflections Contest<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Are you passionate about health equity and engaged in community settings where you are seeking to address health disparities? \u00a0Do you enjoy expressing yourself through art, music, film, poetry, photography, or other creative forms?<\/p>\n<p>If so, this is your chance to enter a submission into the Health Equity Reflections Contest, which encourages you to combine your passions and share your reflections with a broader audience!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Submissions\u00a0Due April 13, 2016\u00a0at 5:00 PM (PST)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">How it works:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Regularly engage in self-reflection on your community-based volunteer\/work experiences.<\/li>\n<li>Synthesize and summarize your self-reflections and experiences.<\/li>\n<li>Create your reflection submission \u2013 encourage yourself to be creative and go beyond writing a paper: paint, draw, write a poem, write a song, capture compelling images, or film a video.<\/li>\n<li>Submit your reflection to our office using catalyst, email, or drop it off at\u00a0A-300 HSB.<\/li>\n<li>Some candidates will get to present their work- Stay tuned for more information!<\/li>\n<li>We&#8217;ve got prizes!\u00a0 The top three winners will each receive $250 of funding which can be utilized to support attendance at a health equity themed conference OR put toward supporting a health equity focused student group initiative.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Things to remember:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li>Submissions must focus in some way on your personal engagements with health equity focused service learning, advocacy, or organizing.<\/li>\n<li>Please be conscientious of patient or client confidentiality in your reflections.<\/li>\n<li>Be creative!
