I ran across a manufacturing processes set of units for HS level. These apparently include 10 self contained activities with all backgound info, inplementaiton directions, equipment and supply lists and instructions for building apparatus.  These activities are provided by the International Technology Education Association. They offer 45 different sets of activities covering a wide range of technology. Nitinol (shape memory wire) is marked as "muscle wire" by a company that supplies the material along with activities books. Their homepage is www.robotstore.com

They have three books with activities ranging in price from $17.95-$249.95 and quite a variety of wire and robotics kits as well.

 
My name is Doug Hanson, a teacher at Bremerton High School. I teach Materials Science Technology to high school students. My teaching buddy and I were taught the MST curriculum developed by PNNL two summers ago. We have found that an excellent source for ceramic suppplies is Seattle Pottery. They fabricate their own furnaces inhouse and are able to be very competitive for their supplies.
