Welcome to the Northwest Center to Reduce Oral Health Disparities

A multi-disciplinary center at the University of Washington School of Dentistry that has been built on strong community partnerships. A common goal of the research conducted by Center investigators is to develop and disseminate practical, evidence-based approaches to reduce oral health problems experienced by poor, minority or rural children and adults who suffer a disproportionate share of oral disease.

Center Director Dr. Peter Milgrom will address the International Conference on Novel Anti-caries and Remineralizing Agents, to be held in Viña del Mar, Chile on Jan 3-5, 2012. In his invited paper, he will speak on clinical research on xylitol and other polyols. Papers from the conference will be published in Advances in Dental Research. Dr. Milgrom and the center have conducted ground breaking research on the application of xylitol as a caries preventive in low income populations.
