Dr. Colleen Huebner is Associate Professor of Health Services and the Director of the University of Washington Maternal and Child Health Program. She earned a BS in psychology (1980), a PhD in developmental psychology (1991), and an MPH in epidemiology (1994), each at the University of Washington. Her interests involve young children’s oral health, prevention of childhood morbidities associated with social and economic disadvantage, methods and measures to monitor the health and well being of all children, and promoting health literacy.
With concerns for both child development and dental health literacy, Dr. Huebner’s recent research projects and publications include “Behavioral determinants of parent’s twice daily toothbrushing of very young children,” “Providing dental care during pregnancy: A survey of Oregon general dentists,” and “Empowering Head Start to improve access to good oral health for children from low-income families.”
Dr. Huebner is the co-Director of the Northwest Center to Reduce Oral Health Disparities (NCROHD) and Principal Investigator of both the Maternal and Child Health Public Health Training Program and of the Home-based Intervention to Reduce Oral Health Disparities in Young Children.
