Founded in 1997 through the University Initiative Fund, and operating under the Molecular Engineering and Science Institute since 2011, the University of Washington Center for Nanotechnology (CNT) regroups more than 80 faculties from 15 departments and 4 Schools and Colleges. 

The mission of CNT is to catalyze transformative interdisciplinary research in nanoscale science and technology, to educate the next generation of academic and industrial leaders, and to make available cutting edge instrumentation for fabrication and characterization at the nanoscale to regional, national and international users.
