Nanotechnology and Nanoscience Volunteers

Cross-disciplinary Collaboration, Nano-Scale Science, and Professional Development

Many of the public science events scheduled by the Center for Nanotechnology are supported by the generous actions of volunteers from the University of Washington Students and Staff. These events add to the local community and professional development of our volunteers. As we continue foward in service this page is a record of events and our heartfelt thank you to those individuals that make it possible. If you would like to volunteer or help support us at these events, please use the email links below to communicate with us.

"Volunteering brings benefits to both society at large and the individual volunteer. It makes important contributions, economically as well as socially. It contributes to a more cohesive society by building trust and reciprocity among citizens."

Science Fair at Adams Elementary School

6110 28th Avenue NW, Seattle, WA 98107
Thurs, April 4th, 2013
6-8pm (setup at 5-5.30pm) -

Activity: 2-4 volunteers provide some type of interactive activity in the cafeteria. Total of 8-10 tables are set up with math and science activities provided by Adams Elementary, and UW volunteers set up something fun that they can have kids try out (e.g. a group from UW demonstrated how propulsion works using a cardboard rocket and balloon attached to a string - fun, easy to run and reset).
