Training

Training is not mandatory (See Getting Started below). Workshops provide a good introduction to the major programs within NatureMapping and to NatureMapping Center facilitators who are involved in local field projects.

Volunteer

You can volunteer for some NatureMapping projects without having to take a workshop.

Getting Started without a Workshop

Getting started with NatureMapping involves five easy steps.

1) Sign up to be a NatureMapper.
     Request an ID Number here.

2) Learn how to complete the data collection form
     Data Collection Form (pdf)

     Go here for Marine or Water

3) Prepare your data for submission using the NatureMapping spreadsheet.
     NatureMapping spreadsheet instructions (pdf)
     Washington spreadsheet (xls)
     Download spreadsheets for states other than Washington

4) Submit your data in one of two ways:
     Upload spreadsheet data here
     Go to NM online data entry

5) Access NatureMapping Data.
     View maps and data here
