Metadata (Data about data or how the map was made)

If Gray Wolves still occur in Washington, they are most likely limited to the remote northern Cascades and the extreme northeast. There have been two reliable north Cascades sightings. Other sightings may have been Coyotes, or wolf-dog hybrids.

Range limits were drawn to encompass only the most remote areas of the north Cascades and northeastern Washington. All zones within the range were core with all habitats good except ice, developed and agriculture.

Range limits of this species are among the most uncertain of all the mammals in Washington. The breeding status is unknown but because the state was part of the original range of the Gray Wolf, all zones were considered core. It was once common throughout the forested areas of Washington, and only human presence makes these areas unsuitable today.
