NatureMapping is an opportunity for people to keep common animals common and maintain our quality of life.

NatureMapping Guidelines for Educators

Techniques for collecting information on wildlife and habitat are described in NatureMapping Guidelines available from Margaret Tudor at (360) 586-3105 or tudormtt@dfw.wa.gov at the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. The guidelines contain instructions for data collection and how to report the data, species lists and identification tips. There are also suggested activities on how to build wildlife data collection skills using school yard and community locations.

Video

Ed Isenson, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, produced and videographed our first video. We are discussing an update. The video can be ordered from Margaret.

Posters

Watercolor posters of habitats (shrub-steppe, urban, and estuary) and the fish, insects and wildlife associated with the habitat are available.

Field Kits

A 1994 National Fish and Wildlife Foundation Grant, matched by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Ecosystems Education program and Key Bank funded Field Kits for 35 teachers.

REI, Inc. is now providing a wonderful discount on Field Kits. They are available through an 800 number PTA's or local community groups may provide funding to create your own Field Kit:
